Senior 1st Line Engineer

Operations, Platform Operations Team

We are hiring a Senior 1st line operations engineer to join our Platform Operations team which is responsible for ensuring Bango services are available to our global customers on a 247 basis.
With a passion for learning and a ‘can do’ attitude, you will join a team that proactively monitors and maintains the Bango environment. Bango utilise a wide range of cutting edge technologies to deliver its services and is actively scaling its global operation to support its growth.

The role:

  • Undertakes diagnosis and investigation to address technical issues or adverse trends.
  • Acts as a point of escalation for technical issues from Associate engineers and 1st line engineers.
  • Provides technical mentoring and documentation to benefit the team.
  • Plays an active role in developing and improving the management of the Bango environment.
  • Actively communicates status of issues/events and tracks actions to ensure appropriate audit trail is in place.
  • Logs and documents all issues and communication and updates stakeholders as required.

Essential requirements:

  • High personal integrity, reliability and dedication.
  • Level head, calm and clear thinking, open minded and flexible.
  • A thirst for learning and continued professional technical development.
  • Ability to work to deadlines, and possess excellent organisational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly developed communication skills, with an ability to communicate complex issues/problems to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience of Microsoft Servers and Technologies .Net and SQL, virtualization, security, SAN, cloud technologies.
  • Availability for On Call rota cover.

Desirable:

  • External customer facing skills within a support desk ideally supporting a web based internet service operating in a ‘real time’ mission critical environment.
  • Proven track record working with customer support teams and development.
  • Experience of virtualisation, security or SAN and cloud.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years support experience in a highly pressurised ‘real time’ mission critical environment.
