.NET Front End Web Developer

We’re seeking an innovative and creative Front End Web Developer to join our already excellent team of developers, using the latest technologies and methodologies to improve our product offering to our content providers.

This is a fantastic opportunity to use the widest range of development languages, from jQuery and Microsoft AJAX to ASP.NET, XML and Web Services, to create a user centric website and cutting edge web application.

You will be working on projects as diverse as mobile analytics, payment and finances, mobile search feeds, SEO, usability design and third party integrations all within a Web 2.0 environment. You will work closely with multiple teams including product marketing, customer services and developers to implement new web interfaces to continually improve the users’ experience.

Your activities

  • Strive to ensure the content provider interfaces are intuitive, in-depth and easy to use
  • Design and implement improvements to the products utilising web usability standards in an Agile development process
  • Investigate new product streams, analyzing competitive offerings and the latest technological improvements to ensure we stay ‘ahead of the game’
  • Handle the full project life-cycle, ensuring implementation, testing and delivery to a very high standard and on time; analysing business requirements and gathering customer feedback to create development plans and product roadmaps
  • Contribute hands on technical and architectural expertise to new developments within Bango; providing motivational, mentoring and best practice skills to your colleagues

Essential skills

  • Have at least 3 years commercial development skills utilising Microsoft .NET technologies, developing with Visual Studio 2005 and .NET Framework 2.0
  • Expertise in analyzing and designing customer facing websites and complex web applications for web usability and accessibility, developing solutions to conform to web standards such as XHTML, CSS, DDA and Web 2.0
  • Extensive experience developing rich client, database driven websites in ASP.NET utilising technologies such as AJAX, SQL Server and Web Services in a mixed C# / VB.NET environment
  • Experience of client side development technologies, particularly jQuery and Microsoft AJAX
  • Have a passion and an in depth understanding of user interface design and management considerations for complex web applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to contribute ideas, designs and opinions, and to present and ensure understanding of concepts to others
  • Self motivated and able to function autonomously, seeking out new tasks and challenges, investigating new technologies and standards to improve our products

Desirable experience

  • Exposure to development in varying technologies, including, but not limited to, Microsoft .NET 2.0, Java, PHP, XHTML, CSS, XML, XSL and T-SQL
  • Experience of image manipulation tools such as Photoshop / Fireworks and Flash
  • Experience of modern software development methodologies (Agile)
  • Experience of project and task management, able to gather and analyse business requirements and produce solutions for high-level, high-performing applications
  • Well versed in web usability guidelines, able to understand the requirements and perspectives of the customers as well as the business as a whole
  • Experience working with other non-technical departments including product marketing, customer services and sales

  • Based at Bango Headquarters in Cambridge, UK

Other information

Reports to the Content Provider Team Leader

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000

Benefits include free parking, employee share options and 25 days holiday (rising to 28 with service). Flexible working possible.
