Customer Update 17th March 2008

Track your Google campaigns

You may have heard that Google will refuse tracking links as a destination URL in their system if they don't match your own domain.

In fact, Google do allow tracking links as long as the user experience is as expected. So as long as a user clicks on a link to your site and ends up on your site Google are not worried if the user passes through Bango for tracking along the way. As Bango does not display anything when we track the user there is no need for you to use any cunning tricks such as setting up a dummy page on your site that re-directs.

So, to track your Google campaigns:

  • Give the URL of your Bango Number as the destination (e.g. http://bango.net/12345678)
  • Make sure the Bango Number is U-rated so we don't ask users to log in
  • Google will approve your campaign
  • It's as simple as that! Let us know if you have any problems!

  • Target your marketing with Analytics

Did you know that as a Bango customer you already have access to our new mobile analytics tools? Make sure you use them to measure the success of all your marketing campaigns. As well as Google, you can monitor campaigns run through Medio, AdMob, Yahoo, in fact pretty much any search or advertising provider.

Many of our customers are already using the power of Analytics to great success. There's no quicker way to find out what works and what doesn't. Here's Gavin Skelhorn Director of Animation FC:

"Data collected...with the help of Bango Analytics show that the clubs who use instantly visible animated promotions generate the most sales."

Knowledge is power and the detail that Analytics gives you allows you to tailor your marketing with a laser like accuracy. Squeeze the potential out of every marketing dollar by evolving your campaigns based on what Analytics is telling you.
