Tips for successful mobile advertising campaigns

There are already a huge number of successful mobile advertising campaigns running every day. Here Admoda provides important tips to ensure you achieve a good return on investment (ROI).

1. Work with a mobile advertising company who has embedded real mobile experience into their ad serving solution. Knowledge of the technical and commercial challenges which mobile presents can have a large impact on the delivery, and consequently the results of your ad campaign.

2. Choose your ad format – color animated banner ads, static banner ads, or text links - carefully. For example you can show color banner ads in countries with a faster GPRS connection and text links in countries with a slower connection. Color banner ads are not only more visually appealing, but also allow you to include your branding/logo into the ad.

3. It is a good idea to include a call to action such as “Click Here”.

4. Choose a mobile advertising company that can allow you to run Pay Per Click and/or Pay Per Impression ad campaigns depending on your requirements.

5. Be explicitly clear about what the end user will receive if they click on your ad. This will ensure that the clicks you receive will generate a higher conversion to sale. There is no point running an ad saying “Click here for FREE ringtones”, if when the user clicks through they have to subscribe to a service for £3 per day to receive just 1 free ringtone. An ad campaign such as this would result in a high Click Through Rate (CTR) but very low conversion to sale.

If you are promoting a subscription service, say so on your ad. The point is to be honest and accurate with your ads. You will receive a much better return.

6. Use targeting wisely. The more targeting you have in place, the less clicks you will receive. However make sure you set your minimum targeting requirements. If you are selling a Java game in the US then don’t forget to set the targeting to US and Java phones only. You then pay per click or impression depending on the campaign you are running.

7. Don’t focus just on one country. If you are selling generic mobile content and using Bango, you have the opportunity to sell content to a global audience. There are large amounts of ad inventory available world-wide, including the US, UK, mainland Europe, Eastern Europe, South Africa, South America, India, SE Asia. If you can bill and deliver content to these territories take advantage of the opportunities now, before your competitors do.

Click rates are often lower for non-UK campaigns, and due to there currently being less advertisers you will be able to drive more potential customers to your products and services.

8. If you are promoting an adult service choose a mobile internet advertising solution which specialises on that market such as Adultmoda. A separate adult/gaming solution ensures end users only see appropriate ads, and also gives the advertiser full brand protection.

9. Ensure your buying process is smooth. Easy to navigate sites and an intuitive billing solution from a company like Bango will result in you receiving many more sales.

10. Finally, if you have a mobile website or Java application with good traffic why not monetize it! There are many ways you can incorporate ads into your offering and generate a whole new revenue stream.
