This partnership gives App Developers more choice in the way they can accept payments from users, alongside the popular and traditional route of having payments managed by app stores.

Unique Digital Turbine Ignite direct-to-device technology is already deployed on over 750 million smartphones to enable users to discover trusted apps outside the app stores, and to enable instant secure download and management of these apps. DT is integrating its app deployment system with the Bango Platform to enable selected apps to benefit from payment options such as Direct Carrier Billing and Wallets.

Users will be able to choose the apps they want, download them immediately to their phone, and use payment options they want, potentially using payment options that are not available from their app store. All with the security and safety that comes with DT Ignite and its app store grade security and privacy model.

For App Developers that want to expand from their success with app stores, this brings additional flexibility and more options. They can make special offers to specific users and benefit from closer commercial partnerships with mobile operators.

Adding Bango Payments to the Ignite On-Device Platform provides a compelling way for digital merchants, carriers and OEM partners to collaborate, so that apps can be merchandised and monetized directly with consumers. It will drive new user experiences and opportunities to reach new customers and faster revenue growth.

In addition to the payment synergies between DT Ignite and the Bango Platform, the partnership also presents several synergies through DT’s Fyber and AdColony businesses that collectively support over 50,000 app developers for ad monetization. Bango and DT will be working together to enable App Developers to benefit from Bango’s purchase behavior targeting technology to convert more of their ad spend into paying consumers.

The partnership has evolved over an extended period but was accelerated to align with recent developments in the market and by regulators to encourage new routes for monetization alongside the two established app-stores. 

The fruits of this partnership are expected to become available in early 2022.  DT and Bango will provide further information to investors relating to merchants and mobile operators adopting the technology in due course.
