In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, businesses are constantly seeking ways to unlock new revenue stream, streamline their operations and enhance customer experiences. One of the most effective solutions to achieve all of this is through the implementation of a Digital Vending Machine® (DVMTM). Simplifying complexity, subscription bundling with the DVM makes the creation and management of subscription offers easy and pain-free.

In our recent Bytesize webinar session on January 30, Dan Hale, Head of Delivery at Bango, explored how the DVM is revolutionizing the way that telcos do subscription bundling by providing an standardized product trusted by the biggest subscription players globally.

Here are some key takeaways from that discussion.

The DVMTM ethos: Onboarding to a product, not just the subscription provider

One of the core principles of the DVM is the focus on onboarding customers to the product itself, rather than merely connecting them to a content provider or reseller. This approach allows businesses to leverage the full potential of the DVM, ensuring that they are not just integrating one service but are instead adopting a comprehensive solution that can scale with their needs.

Dan emphasized this ethos is ingrained within the Bango team. By prioritizing the DVM as the central conduit, resellers can simplify the complexity of their operations. This is particularly important in a market where speed and efficiency are paramount.

Connect once, access all

A key advantage of the DVM is that businesses only need to connect once to unlock access to a vast network of already connected partners. This means that instead of integrating with multiple providers individually, companies can instantly leverage existing integrations, accelerating time to market and scaling rapidly. This streamlined approach drastically reduces the friction traditionally associated with subscription bundling and go-live processes.

Real-world examples: Continente and Telenet

To illustrate the effectiveness of the DVM, we discussed two case studies: Continente, a Portuguese retailer, and Telenet, a Belgium telecommunications company, part of Liberty Global International. Both companies successfully connected to the Bango DVM using the same API, showcasing the versatility of the DVM across different industries, enabling Disney+ as their chosen strategic partnership.

  • Continente’s Christmas Offer: The retailer aimed to launch a Christmas offer within a tight timeline. By utilizing the DVM, they were able to go live with Disney+ in just eight weeks from commercial agreement. This rapid deployment highlights the DVM’s ability to facilitate quick market entry.
  • Telenet’s Efficiency: Telenet’s experience when launching Disney+ further demonstrated this product power. This was not their first content provider launch, Telenet have previously connected through Liberty Global International (LGI) resulting in the Disney+ subscription offers becoming live in just four weeks. This reduction in launch time underscores the power once connected to the DVM streamlining go-live processes and enhancing operational efficiency.

The importance of documentation and support

A critical aspect of the DVM’s success is the transparency and accessibility of its documentation. Dan highlighted that Bango has invested in creating comprehensive and easy-to-understand documentation for its APIs. This commitment to clarity not only aids in the onboarding process but also empowers partners to navigate the DVM ecosystem with confidence. Bango public APIs are available for product and offer testing, which can be found here

Additionally, the availability of a sandbox environment allows potential partners to experiment with the APIs before committing to integration. This hands-on approach fosters a deeper understanding of the DVM’s capabilities and ensures that businesses can effectively leverage the technology to meet their needs helping both commercial and technical teams to align before commitment.

Conclusion

The Digital Vending Machine® is more than just a tool; it is a transformative solution that simplifies complexity and enhances scalability for businesses across various sectors. By focusing on onboarding to the product itself and providing robust support and documentation, Bango is paving the way for companies to capitalize in this digital age of subscriptions. In our next blog, we will delve deeper into the technical aspects of the DVM and how it can future-proof your bundling business.
